7th Annual Iron Woman—Now at Backside Brewery!

Zonta’s 7th annual Iron Woman competition will be held on September 8! This is a team event, comprised of two women, over 21 years old, who combine their scores in shooting, yard games, horseshoes, putting, and bowling. The event begins this year at Backside Brewery at 8:30 a.m. where teams will receive their numbers and board the Backside Brewery bus. The bus provides transportation so that all participants arrive at the same time to each event. Instructors at the Roseburg Rod and Gun Club provide the guns and give each woman basic gun handling and safety instruction. Likewise, the Roseburg Horseshoe Club provides pointers for pitching horseshoes. For bowling, putting, and yard games, you use whatever skills you already may (or may not) posses.

The day concludes about 5 p.m. after Hors d’oeuvres, prizes, and a closing ceremony. Registration is $150 per team and includes transportation, the events, lunch, plus Hors d’ oeuvres. The Iron Woman is a major fundraiser locally for the Zonta Hand Up program for women to transition to a better life, scholarships for women, reducing violence against women, and the Dignity Drive.
