RIDDLE, Ore. -- A woman was transported to a Roseburg hospital after she was rescued following a fall from a bridge in southern Douglas County, officials reported Wednesday morning.

Riddle Fire Protection District and South Douglas County Rescue Team was dispatched to Glenbrook Loop and Canyonville Riddle roads when it was reported a woman had fallen off the bridge.

Officials with Riddle Fire say she was about 25 feet down, hanging onto some tree branches above the river. She appeared to be uninjured.

Due to her location, access was "very limited," the fire district said.

"With help from the rescue team, Riddle Fire was able to use the newly acquired 100 ft. ladder truck -- equipped with rescue system -- to reach out over the bridge and lower a rescuer down the female," Riddle Fire said.

The woman and rescuer were raised up to the bridge where she was turned over to ambulance personnel for evaluation.

She was transported to Mercy Medical Center for evaluation.

There's no word yet on how or why she fell off the bridge.

Bay Cities Ambulance and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene.
