WINSTON, Ore. -- It can get a little crowded with a police department sharing office space with another department.

That's what's happening in Winston, but the police are now getting closer to having their own building.

A bid was approved by the Winston Urban Renewal Agency to remodel a vacant building near city hall, where the police department is located.

But the Winston City Council has yet to approve the additional funding.

The City of Winston says the resources planned for the new building are crucial.

"We've shared coffee machines, we've shared fax machines, all that type of equipment that we need in city hall, they need in the new police facility," City Manager Mark Bauer said.

Winston City Council will vote Monday on whether to move the money to cover the rest of the project.
