Winston Police arrest man who reportedly robbed market patrons, fired gun at vehicle

ARRESTED: Corey Michael Tate (Douglas County Sheriff's Office mugshot)

WINSTON, Ore. -- A Douglas County man was arrested Tuesday morning after he reportedly fired a gun at a vehicle trailing him following a robbery at a local market, authorities said.

According to Winston Police, officers responded to a report of a gunshot heard on North Main Street near Willee’s and Winston Food Mart around 1:45 a.m.

Upon investigating, police determined it to be a robbery of patrons standing in front of the Winston Food Mart, the report said.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Corey Michael Tate, fled on foot.

A witness in a vehicle attempted to follow Tate down an alley behind Willee’s where police say Tate then turned around and fired one round at the vehicle.

No one was injured, the report said.

Tate, who's listed as having a mailing address in Myrtle Creek, was taken into custody near the Dillard Store and lodged at the Douglas County Jail on a parole violation.

Authorities say the investigation is pending.

He's charged with robbery in the first degree, felon in possession, unlawful use of a weapon and others charges.
