One person dead, one seriously injured after car hits man taking pictures on side of road

Vehicle vs. pedestrian crash near Roseburg leaves one dead, one seriously injured

CAMAS VALLEY, Ore. — Oregon State Police responded to a fatal single vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Highway 42 west of Camas Valley at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, where 61-year-old Donald Dickinson was killed.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2008 Ford Edge SUV left the roadway, striking Dickinson, who was standing off the roadway taking photos.

Dickinson, a North Bend resident, was transported to Mercy Medical Center of Roseburg, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Langlois, Oregon, resident Paul Arnoldi. Police do not know why his car left the road and hit Dickinson.

Arnoldi was transported to Mercy Medical for serious injuries, and was later transported by air to Sacred Heart of Springfield.
