Deputies: Vancouver man fell to his death in Smith Rock State Park

TERREBONNE, Ore. – A Vancouver man died after falling at Smith Rock State Park Tuesday, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said 23-year-old Sebastian E. Baker of Vancouver was hiking near Picnic Lunch Wall before he fell to the base of the wall.

Deschutes County 911 received a report of a fallen hiker just before 7 p.m. The caller said the hiker had fallen about 250 feet.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Park Rangers, Redmond Fire and Rescue and Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue personnel responded to the scene.

Investigators said it appears Baker was hiking alone on the Misery Ridge rail before leaving the trail and falling.

Baker died at the scene.

Investigators said the fall appears accidental.
