Lack of sellable Christmas Trees forces Otley Farms to close down early
CORVALLIS, Ore. — We're still more than two weeks away from Christmas, but for one farm in Corvallis, this holiday season is ending early.
The Jacobson family is grabbing the last tree of the season from Otley farms in corvallis.
Owner Harry Otley says he started selling trees before Thanksgiving. Now, he's sold over 350 trees so far this year.
Last year he sold around 500 trees, but this left fewer trees for sale this year, and it caused him to make a tough decision.
"I'm closing down tomorrow for the season,” said Otley. “I'm out of any sellable trees right now. This is the first time this has happened, all though by all rights I probably should have shut her down early last year."
Last year, Otley Farms stayed open until Christmas Eve.
The owner says while the fast sales were good for business, he's sad he won't be getting more families on his farm this year.
