ROSEBURG, Ore. – Douglas County residents will have a chance to meet a Roseburg hero this weekend.

He's set to appear on the big screen this week.

Roseburg Cinema is holding an event for Roseburg native Alek Skarlatos, who appears as himself in the new Clint Eastwood-directed film, The 15:17 to Paris.

The movie is based on Skarlatos and two other Americans thwarting a terror attack on a Paris-bound train.

The cinema plans to give him a hometown welcome.

"He's from this area and it's kind of a coming-back-to-home kind of visit for him,” explained Roseburg Cinema general manager Nathan Davis. “He's been out and done quite a few things since the events in the movie, but I think it's always nice to come home. We're happy to have him here."

Skarlatos will be at the cinema this Saturday to meet fans and introduce his new movie.
