CANYONVILLE, Ore. - An 89-year-old man died in a house fire early Monday morning, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.

Donald Olsen, 89, died in the fire, the sheriff's office said.

Callers reported the fire to 911 at 1:33 a.m.

Firefighters responded to Jordan Creek Road to find home on fire.

The fire had spread to vegetation and threatened other homes, the sheriff's office said.

Crews had the fire knocked down by 3:17 a.m. Firefighters then learned that Olsen had died in the fire.

The Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office is working closely with the Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office on a joint investigation into the fire.
