PORTLAND, Ore. – Interstate 5 southbound closed on the Marquam Bridge after two semi-trucks collided early Friday morning, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.

The crash occurred at 3:30 a.m.

Officials say one of the trucks involved was hauling logs. The trucks had oversized-load trucks with signs accompanying them.

ODOT says the lanes to Interstate 405 remained open. Southbound I-5 traffic was asked to use the Fremont Bridge and I-405 as a detour.

Drivers experienced delays as crews remove the trucks and clean spilled diesel. ODOT estimates about 50 to 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled. The fuel did not spill into the Willamette River, they said.

The interstate reopened shortly after 11 a.m.
