Roseburg seeks grants for airport improvements
ROSEBURG, Ore. - The City Council gave the green light for the public works department to apply for two grants from the Oregon Department of Aviation to fund improvements at the airport.
The money would help the City meet a 10 percent match on another grant to pay to remove obstructions and add new runway lighting.
"Last thing you want is somebody trying to come into your airport and not be able to see it, so it's critical infrastructure out there that we just want to get replaced before it fails," said Nikki Messenger, the public works director.
Without the grants, the City would need to pay almost $100,000 to fund the upgrades.
