Roseburg interim superintendent: 'Our goal is to make sure our kids are successful'
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Roseburg School Board has appointed an interim superintendent.
The decision was made on Wednesday after the school board placed Superintendent Gerry Washburn on paid administrative leave.
Interim Superintendent Robert Freeman says he's looking forward to leading the district as they approach the new school year.
"I just have complete faith in our staff that we are professionals and that our goal is to make sure that our kids are successful," Freeman said.
Freeman has served as human resources director for the district for the past two years with around 30 years of experience in education.
The board did not announce the reason for their decision to place Washburn on paid administrative leave.
