REEDSPORT, Ore. — The City of Reedsport is introducing its new Chief of Police, John Carter.
The City says Chief Carter comes to Reedsport with more than 20 years of law enforcement experience - the last nine as a Chief of Police in Monticello, Illinois.
Carter has experience in corrections and communication (dispatch), as well as fire and medical services.
He also served as an Interim Director for Piatt County Illinois Emergency Management.
"Chief Carter is a dedicated and proactive professional with a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia College," the City said. "He is a transformational leader focused on the future of the department and the accomplishment of goals.
"While he is grateful for the opportunities previously afforded to him in Illinois he is ready to embark on a new career path with the Reedsport Police Department. Chief Carter is committed to providing exceptional service with integrity to all City employees and Citizens."
A community open house to welcome Chief Carter will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 5 at the Community Building on Winchester Ave.
