Police, school officials investigate threat at Roseburg middle school
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Roseburg Public Schools Tuesday reported a school threat was found written on a toilet paper dispenser in a girl’s bathroom stall at Joseph Lane Middle School in Roseburg.
"The threat has been reported to the authorities and is being investigated by the Jo Lane administrative team and local law enforcement," Jo Lane Principal Bill Bartlett and RPS Superintendent Gerry Washburn said in a joint statement to the public via email. "At this early stage of the investigation, the school and authorities have no suspects. Although the District does not believe the threat to be credible, we do take it seriously and are asking the public to be vigilant."
Officials are asking you to notify Jo Lane Middle School if you have any information regarding a written threat.
"Parents are asked to remind their students that making a threat of this nature, even in jest, carries serious consequences," school officials said. "We will continue to partner with law enforcement to keep all of our students safe. Jo Lane Middle School staff will continue to make student safety our top priority."
Last month, a 12-year-old was arrested for reportedly writing a threat at the same school.
