Police: Roseburg man arrested after fire threatens home near cemetery
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man was arrested overnight Tuesday after police found evidence he started a fire.
According to a Roseburg Police Department report, a fire engulfed a wooded area between the Roseburg Memorial Gardens cemetery and Highland Street, "thereby endangering a home in the 1000 block of Highland."
Police responded just before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday
Police say 64-year-old Steven A. Standley had a camp nearby and there was evidence that he started the fire.
He was arrested without incident and lodged at the Douglas County Jail.
He was charged with Reckless Burning, Recklessly Endangering and Prohibited Outdoor Burning.
