Police: K9 tracks down man accused of threatening woman with machete, pellet rifle

    ROSEBURG, Ore. - A police K9 tracked down a Roseburg man accused of threatening a woman with a machete and a pellet rifle during a domestic dispute - and then tackling her in an attempt to take her phone as she tried to call for help, Roseburg Police said.

    Officers resonded to the 200 block of SE Fowler Street around 8 p.m. Monday.

    "The male suspect fled prior to police arrival," police said in a statement. "During the investigation it was alleged the male threatened the female with a machete and a pellet rifle. When the female tried to call for help, the male tackled her and unsuccessfully tried to take her phone. The male then fled the residence."

    Police K9 Nike tracked down the suspect, who surrendered to police.
