Police arrest two men suspected of robbing Lucky Lou's in early March

James Thomas Tkacs, 40, and Waquas Ali Bhatti, 32, suspected of robbing the Lucky Lou's on March 12th.

LANE COUNTY, Ore. - Springfield Police have reportedly arrested two men who are suspected of robbing the Lucky Lou's deli on March 12th.

The men have been identified as Waquas Ali Bhatti (Vic), 32, from Eugene, and James Thomas Tkacs, 40, from Eugene.

On Friday morning, an area clerk, who knew that there had been a string of robberies in the area, called the Springfield Police to report a suspicious vehicle at the 5700 block of Main Street in Springfield.

An officer began surveillance, and noticed that the two men near the vehicle were acting in a bizarre manner, and shortly after, both men jumped in the vehicle and drove off in an erratically.

The officer pulled them over to check for possible DUI infractions.

At that time, he found one of the men had methamphetamines, and that the clothing and shoes they had on matched that from the suspects in the Lucky Lou's surveillance videos. The officer also found a gun in the vehicle.

Springfield Police is working with Eugene Police to see if these men are at all connected with the string of robberies in Lane County over the last month.

Both suspects have been booked in the Lane County Jail.
