No-kill cat shelter raising funds to get Douglas County strays off the streets
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Douglas County's only 'no-kill shelter' raised $200 at a fundraiser Saturday selling baked goods at Sherm's Thunderbird.
S.O.S.C.A.T. plans on holding more fundraisers on the first Saturday of each month.
The nonprofit is located in Oakland, and you may have walked right by it without noticing. There is a gift store in front and the no-kill shelter is found in the back.
All proceeds go to help the rescued felines.
"S.O.S.C.A.T. is working very hard to try and knock down the feline population in Douglas County," says executive director Susan Wilson. "It costs a lot to run a shelter and we do need help."
Right now there are 28 cats that need lots of attention.
If you would like to volunteer, donate gifts for the front store or give money visit soscat.org for more information.
