DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. - Oregon Governor Kate Brown was in Douglas County, taking a look at a new health care facility in Roseburg.
The Newton Creek Medical Facility is Umpqua Health's plan to bring up to twelve new providers to Roseburg. It provides access to physical, behavioral and urgent care services in one spot.
"Improving access and providing access for folks here," said Kat Cooper, with Community Outreach at Umpqua Health. "So that's what this new building is all about is increasing access for folks to make sure everyone can get the healthcare that they need."
Governor Brown was here for a tour, where Umpqua Health Alliance is one of 15 state health care organizations serving the Oregon Health Plan.
"They're clearly planning for the future, and meeting the health care needs of the citizens of Douglas County," said Governor Brown.
For members, accessibility is a high priority.
"The microwave that's gonna be in the drawer in the break room to the large bathrooms. To everything that could be possibly ADA compliant with today's standards," said Cooper.
The 25,000 square foot facility is set to open later this year to serve Douglas County.
