Level 3 'GO!' evacuation in effect for area east of Glide

Closure order (via North Umpqua Ranger District)

GLIDE, Ore. -- A Level 3 Evacuation Notice for the the Dry Creek and Illahee areas was issued at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, by fire officials of the North Umpqua Complex 17 and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. This included residents at Umpqua's Last Resort Wilderness RV Park & Campground.

Residents were urged to evacuate immediately due to wildfire.

Hwy 138E (North Umpqua Highway) is closed between mileposts 39 and 54, roughly 22 miles east of Glide (Steamboat-Dry Creek area). Use alternate routes.

LEVEL 3: A Level 3 or "GO" Evacuation means to Evacuate NOW. LEAVE IMMEDIATELY!

"Danger to your area is current or imminent, and you should evacuate immediately. If you choose to ignore this advisement, you must understand that emergency services may not be available to assist you further," the sheriff's office says. "DO NOT delay leaving to gather any belongings or make efforts to protect your home."

Entry to evacuated areas may be denied until conditions are safe.

A Red Cross shelter is available to displaced residents at the Glide Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 19085 North Umpqua Highway in Glide.

Power lines in the area have been deenergized by PacifiCorp in order to alleviate further power disruption.

Warmer and dryer weather conditions led to more active fire behavior across the Umpqua North Complex Wednesday.
