SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Lane County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue and the Eugene Emerald Valley Rotary Club is holding the 8th Annual Life Jacket Exchange on June 2 and 3 at Cabela’s in Springfield.

"Our mission is to ensure every child playing in or near the water has a properly fitting life jacket," said organizers.

They sat to bring your child’s outgrown or lightly used life jacket to Cabela’s on June 2 or 3 and exchange it for a properly-fitting one.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office and local Rotarians will be there to help check jackets for form, fit, and function.

Life jackets that are turned in for exchange are inspected for safety and handed back out at the event.

  • June 2, 2018 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Springfield Cabela’s
  • June 3, 2018 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Springfield Cabela’s

"Help us save a life! Donate! We are in need of youth sized life jackets in good condition," organizers say. "If you have gently used life jackets you are no longer using or have outgrown, consider donating them to this worthy cause and you can help save a life."

Donated life jackets are accepted at the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 125 East 8th Avenue in downtown Eugene or can be dropped off at the Life Jacket Exchange event.
