Juvenile held in connection with death of 92-year-old Creswell woman

    UPDATE: Boy, 12, held on murder charge

    CRESWELL, Ore. - Deputies took a juvenile into custody in connection with the death of a Creswell woman.

    "Information developed from the investigation has led to a suspect, who has been detained and lodged at the Serbu Juvenile Justice Center," the Lane County Sheriff's Office said. "As the suspect is a juvenile, their information is not being released."

    Investigators returned Thursday to the home where a 92-year-old woman as found dead Monday.

    The sheriff's office has called the death of 92-year-old Erma Burnell "unexplained" and "suspicious."

    Investigators were back at 271 Creswood Drive on Thursday.

    A photojournalist at the scene saw an investigator gathering evidence near the intersection of Gilfry Avenue, north of the home.

    Deputies responded just after noon Monday to a report of an injured woman on the 200 block of Creswood Drive. The sheriff has not disclosed the nature of her injuries.

    The woman died at the scene shortly after medics and deputies arrived, the sheriff's office said.

    "Lane County Sheriff’s Office detectives, the Oregon State Police, and the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the death as suspicious," the sheriff's office said. "Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to call 541-682-4141."
