'Happy Monster, Sad Monster': Program helps parents read, understand child's emotions
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A parenting program in Douglas County is helping parents read and understand their child's emotions.
The Take Root program offers free parenting support classes.
They'll be teaching a "Happy Monster, Sad Monster" workshop.
Parents learn how to teach little ones social and emotional skills by using books.
Workshop leaders say the program can be a big help for parents.
"Deflate the issues and how to redirect, just more appropriate ways to work through the issues so that everybody wins," says workshop speaker Barbara Tenneson.
You can attend the "Happy Monster, Sad Monster" workshop this Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Take Root Parenting Connection in Roseburg.
