Grants Pass Police involved in standoff situation at trailer park
UPDATE 3:11 p.m. - Lieutenant Todd Moran with Grants Pass Police said the suspect in custody is 29-year-old Kyle Young.
Moran said police were called to the 2900 block of Highland Avenue around 10 a.m. Thursday morning for a domestic dispute. He said they have received numerous 911 calls from neighbors regarding domestic disputes at the residence in the past, but each time they arrived on scene, the suspect fled into the wooded area behind the residence.
This time, police said he ran back into the home.
"Everytime we'd go up there he'd run, and we weren't able to catch up to him," said Lt. Todd Moran. "So today when we got the call, our officers arrived on scene and identified him as the subject that was there."
Through intelligence gathering, it was believed that a four-year-old girl was likely in the residence with Young. After two hours of attempted negotiations, police eventually obtained a search warrant and entered the home by force before 1 p.m.
Young and the child were found inside. The young girl was safely taken from the home and placed with a relative.
Young was arrested and lodged at the Josephine County Jail. Moran said he had a statewide felony warrant for parole violation.
