ROSEBURG, Ore. -- An annual shooting fundraiser focusing on gun safety took place over the weekend in Douglas County.
Roseburg private Christian school Geneva Academy held its 3-gun Competition over the weekend and raised over $10,000 towards tuition assistance for families.
The competition is called 3-gun because competitors use a rifle, shotgun and hand gun.
As the first 3-gun event after the UCC shooting in October 2015, the focus of the event was on safe and responsible Second Amendment rights.
"There was a question whether we should have an event like this, and we decided yes, we should, because we want to have a generation of people that are ready to step forward and to be first responders in the future," said Geneva Academy Headmaster Brian Turner.
Competitors included students and community members and were judged on accuracy and time in three divisions.
