PORTLAND, Ore. – A former University of Oregon tight end and Hillsboro High School football standout Colt Lyerla was arrested on Thursday on new charges of heroin possession and a parole violation.
According to court records, Lyerla’s relative contacted authorities in late July saying they received several messages from people who said he was involved in drug deals.
Authorities told Lyerla to come in for a drug test on August 1, as part of his parole requirements for previous arrests. He failed to show up for his test. Authorities filed a warrant for his arrest on August 6.
An indictment states that a Washington County deputy found Lyerla with some heroin when he was taken into custody on December 6.
