PORTLAND, Ore. – A fatal motorcycle crash closed the off-ramp from Interstate 405 to Highway 30 Thursday night.

Portland police officers responded to the incident at 11:41 p.m.

When emergency personnel arrived, they found a motorcyclist laying in the roadway and the rider’s motorcycle along the side of the road.

Medical personnel determined the rider was dead at the scene. He's been identified as 37-year-old Renee Beus.

After investigating, police say the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on I-405 and took the Highway 30 exit. Then, the rider lost control of the motorcycle and struck the right side concrete barriers and light pole.

Police say the rider was thrown from the motorcycle into the roadway while the motorcycle traveled on its own along the concrete barrier before coming to a stop.

The scene cleared around 4:30 a.m. Friday. The off-ramp was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation.
