Engine fire leaves train blocking major railroad crossing in Roseburg

ROSEBURG, Ore. - An engine caught fire Wednesday and stopped a train blocking the railroad crossing at Garden Valley Boulevard and Stewart Parkway.

Roseburg Fire got the call around 12:26 p.m.

Minutes earlier, security cameras at NEXCom Networks captured footage of flames erupting from the engine as the train moved.

Brandon Ledbetter shared a video from the scene that shows smoke coming from a train engine.

The train came to a stop blocking a busy railroad crossing.

Umpqua Transit said the closures had delayed routes.

Traffic was backed up for at least 30 minutes.

No one was injured. Firefighters said the locomotive suffered some kind of malfunction. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
