Councilman resigns in Winston, replacement appointed to remainder of term
WINSTON, Ore. -- A member of the Winston City Council has resigned, the City reported Wednesday.
On August 7, the Council accepted the resignation of Councilor Chris Berquist as a result of his pending move into Roseburg.
At their September 5 Council meeting, City Council appointed Scott Rutter to complete the Berquist's term.
Rutter is a local business owner and longtime Winston resident "who would like to see a growth in the City’s tourism base and to see the business community continue to facelift itself," a City of Winston news release said.
The position is located in Winston's Ward II.
