Sen. Collins calls for more sanctions against Russia
PORTLAND (WGME) – Senator Susan Collins is sending a strong message of disapproval after President's Donald Trump’s comments on Russia this week.
She says Trump's ambiguous statements are not helping to restore faith in America’s intelligence community.
"I’m not satisfied with the President's explanations of his dealings with President Putin," Collins said. “Russia has become increasingly aggressive. The President should not be describing President Putin as his friend, he should not be describing him as powerful and strong. That only encourages President Putin to be more aggressive. I don't think the President should have had that press conference in the first place"
Senator Collins says one concrete way to show America does not support Putin and Russia is to pass a proposed bill that would impose more sanctions against Russia.
