      Roseburg's Hutchins wins 6A javelin title

      Roseburg's Selmar Hutchins III capped off a successful senior season by winning the javelin title at the Class 6A track and field state championships.


      Hutchins unleashed a throw of 198-10 to win the crown and earned a fourth place finish in the discus (143-02).


      Douglas High's Austin Baker captured the 4A state title in the 400m with a time of 49.06, while teammate Nathaniel Vosika took fifth in the long jump.


      On the girls' side, Roseburg's Rachel Picknell was third in the discus with a throw of 132-07; Douglas junior Alex Jellison took third (10-09.00) and teammate Anna Jensen (10-00.00) was sixth in the pole vault; and Trojan junior Anna Rietmann was fourth in the triple jump.


      The 6A/5A/4A track and field championships were held at Hayward Field in Eugene.
