Far West champs take home awards

Far West League champion South Umpqua dominated the all-league selections.

Ryan Savage was named coach of the year and six Lancers were named to the first team including Cameron Reese (P), Garrett Rudy (C), Colton Pringle (1B), Conner Clack (IF); DJ McKenna (OF) and Brevin Ball (OF).

Sutherlin's Joey Bell (IF), Damion Henderson (OF) and Beau Grauf (U) were also first team selections.

Six local players made the second team led by SU pitcher Tylar Blansett and Sutherlin outfielder Wyatt Jones. Joining them were Douglas High's Brian Middleton (P), Levi Hastings (1B), Tyler Foster (IF) and Brock Koone (OF).

Sophomore Justin Bennett (IF) was named honorable mention.

The FWL's most valuable player award was given to Siuslaw's Jake Thompson.
