Former Marshfield football coach: 'I'm very grateful to have been here'
COOS BAY, Ore. -- The news broke this week that Marshfield High School head football coach Josh Line is leaving the Pirates to take over as football coach at Sheldon High School in Eugene.
Line has spent the last four seasons at Marshfield.
He will head to Eugene to take over the highly successful Sheldon program, replacing Lane Johnson who resigned after last season.
Line says the decision to move wasn't just for the job; he says he and his wife were wanting to be closer to their family in Springfield.
He says he'll never forget the support from the Coos Bay community that he says has become like a family.
"I feel like I'm prepared for a job like Sheldon at this point in my life, and it has everything to do with what I've learned in this community and with what this community has taught me,” Line said. “I'm very grateful to have been here and to have had the experiences that I've had."
Sheldon finished its 2016 season with a loss in the 6A quarterfinals.
