Conforto & Moore highlight No. 6 Beavs doubleheader win
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The sixth-ranked Oregon State baseball team swept a doubleheader from visiting Bryant Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium and in the process, the Beavers kept their record perfect and now reside at 11-0. OSU won the second game, 3-1, after winning game one, 7-2.
Andrew Moore was dominant in the second game, allowing just four hits, one unearned run and a walk in eight innings of work. The freshman struck out seven for the win, which improved his record to 3-0 this season.
Michael Conforto stroked a 1-0 pitch from Bryant starter Kevin McAvoy over the left field fence in the first, scoring Tyler Smith who had singled with one out. The shot capped Conforto's day, which saw the sophomore finish with five runs driven in after he homered and went 3-for-4 in the first game.
The Beavers added a run in the sixth when a liner off the bat of Gabe Clark got past the Bryant right fielder for a triple. Dylan Davis scored easily from third on the hit.
Davis was the lone Beaver with two hits as OSU collected just five off McAvoy and reliever John Healy.
McAvoy lasted six innings for Bryant (0-5-1), allowing five hits and three runs while striking out six. He was, however, saddled with the loss and is 0-1 on the year.
Max Engelbrekt picked up his second save of the season. The left-handed freshman allowed one inherited runner to score but got the final three outs of the game for the win.
Oregon State 7, Bryant 2 (Game 1)

Conforto added an RBI on a single in the seventh to give him three on the day. He also had three hits to pace the Beavers, who finished with 10 overall. Davis and Andy Peterson pitched in with two apiece.
Dan Child won his third game of the season with a seven-inning outing. The OSU starter allowed three hits and two runs - both unearned - while striking out five. He lowered his earned run average to 1.56 after starting the game at 2.61.
