Commissioner: Budget to hold the line, for now
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Earlier this week, Douglas County commissioners were in talks about the upcoming fiscal year's budget.
According to commissioner Doug Robertson, it's pretty similar to this year, and most people won't notice any changes. "The service levels are going to remain essentially the same," Robertson said. "Public safety remains a priority, the District Attorney's office, the Sheriff, the Juvenile Department."
Robertson says the budget wasn't really a surprise.
Commissioners work with department heads throughout the year on funding.
The discussions are just a preliminary budget setting step.
The county's official budget won't be completed for several weeks.
Though this year's budget is fairly similar, Robertson says that the county could see some drastic cutbacks next year if action isn't taken on bridge funding or O&C lands.
