COOS BAY, Ore. - For Debbie Tegtmeier, snapping pictures masks the pain.
She suffers from degenerative disc disease.
"I needed something to distract me while I was trying to walk," she said.
The disease makes movement hard for Debbie.
Then she picked up a camera at a thrift shop.
"Nothing will keep me in the house," she said. "I don't care."
Hiking the beaches, even the sand dunes looking for that perfect shot, is what she says gets her through.
"I may suffer the next day," she said, "but it's worth it at the time."
Her work has been featured in local shops, on plaques and websites.
Most often you can see her work on our YouNews page.
"I thought, 'Well, I can do that, I can report what I see here in Winchester Bay and Reedsport.'"
