Search underway for man after boat swamped on Snake River in Homedale
HOMEDALE, Idaho (KBOI) —
An 18-year-old Homedale man has gone missing after he fell into the Snake River late Wednesday after the boat he was in swamped on the Snake River in Owhyee County.
Sheriff deputies tell KBOI 2News that eight people were on the boat Wednesday night when the boat swamped. They received a 911 call around 10:30 p.m.
All but one person were rescued from the water.
Owyhee County Sheriff says it’s unclear why the boat was taking on water but nobody on board was wearing a life vest. He says alcohol was involved.
The boat is a 19 foot bass tracker with seating for 4 and the Sheriff says rescue response was immediate.
Police say a search is underway near the Homedale dock for the missing person, who has not been publicly identified by police. Multiple police agencies are assisting in the search including Owyhee County, Canyon County and Homedale Police.
Searchers include 14 boats and two airplanes.
The sheriff's office says people are also searching the banks of the river.
