ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man was cited Tuesday for angling crimes following multiple violations during trips in two separate years, Oregon State Police reported.

OSP Fish and Wildlife Division said it followed an investigation into several wildlife offenses that occurred on Steamboat Creek, a longtime protected steelhead fish-rearing stream in Douglas County.

The violations occurred during multiple angling trips during 2014 and 2016, police said.

37-year-old Jody Michael Smith was cited for Unlawful Take/Possession of Non-Fin Clipped Steelhead, Angling Closed Stream (Steamboat Creek), and Aiding/ Counseling in a Wildlife Offense. Police say additional charges may be filed after the District Attorney's office reviews the case.

Two adult companions were issued warnings. One was warned for Angling Closed Stream and another for Aiding in a Wildlife Offense.
