Minor-league Durham Bulls to wear R2-D2 jerseys

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - The Durham Bulls - the minor-league baseball team made world famous in the 1988 Kevin Costner film "Bull Durham" - are going back to the movies for one game this season.

The team will wear jerseys that resemble R2-D2 during their annual "Star Wars Night" on May 4.

The selected date is a pun on an oft-quoted line from the "Star Wars" movies: "May the force be with you."

The team says it will auction off the jerseys to benefit the Autism Society of North Carolina.

The Bulls are the Tampa Bay Rays' Triple-A affiliate.

Denver Lacrosse team getting into the act as well

But Durham won't be the only sports team out there sporting Lucas-inspired threads.

The Denver Outlaws lacrosse team tweeted that they will also be dressed in Star Wars outfits on May 4 -- theirs representing the Rebel Alliance while their opponent will look like Stormtroopers.
