Man pretending to point gun at school bus rams into cop cars, tree
LAKEWOOD, Wash. - A man with a knife was arrested Thursday after ramming into patrol cars and pretending to point a gun at a school bus full of students.
A student on the bus alerted school officials after spotting the man pointing his fingers at the bus in the shape of a gun at 96th Street South and South Tacoma Way, Chris Lawler with the Lakewood Police Department says.
The school called police. Officers arrived to find the man armed with a knife and "acting crazy", Lawler says.
The man charged at officers, ran back to his car and fled. Officers pursued and the man rammed head-on into two patrol cars. The three-minute chase ended when the man crashed into a tree near the Joint Base Lewis-McChord main gate, Lawler says.
The suspect has been taken into custody, Lawler says. Officers involved in the incident are being evaluated.
