Killer of 3-year-old girl gets 25 to life in prison

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) A man's punishment is 25 years to life in prison for murdering a 3-year-old Taft girl.

Eric Foster was sentenced Tuesday in Kern County court. He's eligible for parole under a plea deal that saw charges of cruelty, torture and assault dropped.

The child, Trinity Hanna, died in January 2012 after her mother rushed her to Bakersfield's San Joaquin Community Hospital. Medical staff found suspicious injuries and couldn't save the child's life.

Foster was the mother's live-in boyfriend. Court documents state Foster admitted to investigators that he physically abused the girl on at least three occasions.

The mother, Angela Vickrey, also known as Angela Hanna, was sentenced to 10 years in prison last spring after pleading no contest to four felony counts of willful cruelty to a child.
