Yard debris a leading cause of human caused wildfires in Oregon, official says
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Temperatures are heating up in Douglas County and fire officials want people to be careful while burning yard debris.
The Douglas Forest Protective Association says yard debris is one of the leading causes of human caused wildfires in Oregon.
Specialists say you can be held financially responsible for damages caused by burning yard debris.
People are not allowed to burn rubber or plastic products, tires, or garbage.
The association says being careful and paying attention can go a long way.
"If people are safe and cautious, it's great that they're out cleaning up and getting ready for fire season," said DFPA's Kyle Reed. "We want to make sure they're being safe and doing that, that they're not taking away from valuable resources."
