Woman dies after being struck by 2 vehicles
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- The Sheriff's office says a 37-year-old Roseburg woman was killed after being hit by two cars on Old Highway 99 Wednesday night.
Deputies were called to the 3800 block of Old Hwy 99 South at around 10:00 pm, for a reported crash in the area.
When deputies arrived, they say they found Billie Joan Reed deceased at the scene.
The Sheriff's office said Reed was walking north on the southbound side of the highway, when Reed ran across the road into the northbound lane.
That's when deputies say Reed was struck by a 1998 Saturn being driven by Phillip Wright, 32, of Roseburg. Reed was then struck by a taxi being driven by Brian Cunningham, 51, of Roseburg.
Deputies say the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities say both drivers are cooperating with the investigation, which is ongoing.
Oregon State Police are assisting with the accident reconstruction.
