WINSTON, Ore. - A 16 year-old Winston boy has been taken into custody after authorities said he shot a 17 year old girl with a BB gun on Tuesday night.
Authorities responded to a call of a woman shot in the head at the 7 Eleven store on Main Street.
When multiple officers from Winston, Roseburg and the Sheriff's office arrived, they found the 17 year-old girl with a single, small entry wound to the upper-right forehead that was non-life threatening.
Authorities said it all started when a group of girls were headed down Jorgens Street searching for a group of boys who had fired several air-soft guns and a BB rifle at them during a visit earlier in the evening.
Authorities said the girls slowly passed by a residence on that street and taunted the group of boys.
Officials say the suspect fired a single round from a BB gun at their vehicle. The round struck the 17 year old victim in the scalp.
The group of girls drove to 7 Eleven where someone called 911.
The 17 year old girl was treated and released, according to police.
The weapons were seized and the 16 year old suspect was taken to the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center.
He has been charged an unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangering and fourth degree assault.
The case has been handed over to the District Attorney's office.
