Volunteers add some green to downtown Roseburg at Watersheds event
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Some people really got into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit Friday by adding extra greenery to the environment.
Dozens volunteered their time to help spruce up Riverside Park in downtown Roseburg.
It's part of the Umpqua Watersheds' 'Rejuvenature' program aimed at reconnecting people with nature.
"(There were a) couple of van loads of kids from phoenix school. I believe Casa De Belen is bringing kids as well,” said Alan Bunce with Umpqua Watersheds during the event, adding that the weather was cooperating.
The group’s main objective is tackling invasive species mostly along the Umpqua.
At the same time, they are planting more native, ecologically friendly species as well.
