Sutherlin students gearing up for annual plant sale

SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- Some Sutherlin students will be showcasing their hard work this weekend.

Sutherlin High School's horticulture class has been preparing since late winter for their annual FFA plant sale.

Kylee Carson, the plant sale marketing coordinator, says the event is the first one of the year. "This weekend is our very first plant sale of the year and it's on Friday and Saturday," she said. "People can expect to find quality plants that we've been working and caring for."

The sale will be open to the public in the greenhouse behind the high school. "We have a variety between flowers, and we also have a bunch of vegetable starts and fruit starts as well, and we also have hanging baskets," Carson said.

Under the supervision of agriculture teacher Wes Crawford, the students are responsible for putting it all together. "The money then goes towards the Sutherlin FFA chapter to help for trips or miscellaneous items, like buying new jackets for members," Carson said.

The sale is from 2-6 pm Friday and 8-4 pm on Saturday.
