MEDFORD, Ore. - Police are looking for suspects in the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man.

At around 2:40 Wednesday morning, residents of the Brentwood Village Apartments woke up to the sound of a gunshot.

A suspect or suspects fled in a dark-colored SUV, police said.

Lt. Mike Budreau says Jordan Andres was shot in a parking lot at an apartment complex.

He then stumbled to a stairwell and died Wednesday despite life-saving efforts from citizens and paramedics.

A resident performed CPR on the 25-year-old Andres until paramedics arrived.

Andres, who had been shot in the chest, did not survive.

"The lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the victim died on scene," Medford Police Lt. Kerry Curtis said.

The victim's wife told KTVL in Medford that the couple has a 2 1/2-year-old son.

The family said Andres was involved in drug dealings throughout his life and believe his death had something to do with this, KTVL reported.

Court documents obtained by the Mail Tribune show Andres had prior drug convictions.

Police believe the suspect and victim may have known each other.

"We do not believe at this point that is a random act of violence," Curtis said.

Residents of the apartments were shocked to wake up this violence.

"I was standing outside my apartment and I saw lights reflecting off of the fences and staff," Chris Kaeser said. "It was kind of like a slap in the face. Like it does happen, and it can happen so close to home."

Kaeser lives a few units over and can't imagine how those who witnessed the aftermath firsthand must feel.

"I don't know what I’d do with myself," Kaeser said. "Someone's life was taken right there where you live your life every day."
