Shots fired, one arrested after dispute in Cottage Grove
EUGENE, Ore. - No one was injured and one man is in custody after shots were fired during a dispute at a home southwest of Cottage Grove.
Lane County Sheriff's Office recieved calls at around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning with reports of multiple gunshots and a family dispute in a home on Tioga Drive, an unincorporated area of Lane County.
"It was reported several people in the house, dispute primarily between two men - two males - with some shotguns in the home," said Captain Byron Trapp with the Lane County Sheriff's Office.
Two armored military vehicles and deputies responded to the scene as a precaution.
When sheriff's deputies arrived on scene, they arrested David Pendergrass without incident. Pendergrass was lodged in the Lane County Jail on three counts of recklessly endangering and three counts of menacing.
Neighbors on Tioga Court say this isn't the first time they've heard gunfire from the home.
"Quite a few shootings. I'd say monthly. Maybe every couple months," said neighbor Tom Lake.
"Last summer, it was quite frequent, and the Sheriff's were here before and I informed them of the situation," said neighbor Lenny Vandenbroeke.
When Vandenbroeke hears shots fired, he goes into safety mode. "Duck and cover. Get my own shotgun out. Protect ourselves," he said.
