Shop owner donates semi-truck load of food to feed Douglas Co.
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Thousands of Douglas County residents will have a warm meal thanks to the generosity of one man.
Sherman Olsrud, the founder of Sherm's Thunderbird Market, donated an entire semi-truck full of food and other goods to the United Community Action Network.
UCAN officials said that the nearly 40,000 pound donation is enough to feed those in need in Douglas County for about three weeks.
Olsrud started donating food six years ago because he wanted to help the community that he said has made his business what it is today.
"The need was there and we had the product and southern Oregon has been good to us, so we have to give back to it," said Olsrud.
Olsrud said he makes similar donations in Medford and Klamath Falls every year.
