Sheriff: Teens arrested after disturbance at shelter

COOS BAY, Ore. -- Deputies arrested three teens south of Coos Bay Tuesday morning, after they say the boys caused a disturbance at the youth shelter they were staying in.

The Coos County sheriff's office says deputies were called to the Belloni Youth Shelter at about 8:30 a.m., after staff there reported three teens, ages 15, 16 and 17, were causing a disturbance.

The boys became defiant with the staff and started destroying property in the shelter, taking items from the kitchen and stealing a stereo from another resident, authorities said.

Officials say when a deputy attempted to take the boys into custody they resisted, forcing the deputy to draw his Taser. That's when deputies say the three became cooperative.

All three of the teens were transported to the juvenile detention facility in Roseburg, where authorities say they will be transported back to the juvenile departments in the counties were they live.

All three were charged by deputies with resisting arrest, third degree theft and third degree criminal mischief.
